Rocky Mountain Branch Youth Ambassadors

HTTP://www.interdys.org/ewebeditpro5/upload/RMAmbassadors.pngIDA’s Rocky Mountain Branch is known for its extensive event and workshop schedule and its deep connection to not only the city of Denver, but surrounding areas, as well.  In addition, this branch has an extraordinary group of youth, elementary school age through college age, who serve as the Rocky Mountain Branch Youth Ambassadors.

This amazing group of young people was initially formed as a creative way to present information about dyslexia and its impact during the Branch's Annual Dyslexia Awareness Month presentation, Dyslexia Spells Success, and at the annual branch conference, Reading in the Rockies.  The group has allowed these students the opportunity to gain self esteem and confidence while helping other youth, along with their parents and teachers, gain a better insight into the lives of those living with learning disabilities.

What started as an idea  for engaging parents and educators has morphed into a remarkable experience for these dedicated young students and the audiences who hear them speak!  Now, these students travel around Colorado and give formal and informal presentations that include research based evidence about learning disabilities intertwined with their individual stories that educate, teach self-advocacy, and inspire anyone who is privileged to hear them.

You have the opportunity to see them in action on April 23 at Choose Your Own ADDventure in Denver, Colorado.  Click Here for more information.
